Matter Joins a Prestigious List of ISO 9001-Certified Organisations
From global manufacturers and technology leaders to fast-growing scale-ups, thousands of organisations worldwide use ISO 9001 as the benchmark for quality management. In July, Matter joined that prestigious group, having successfully achieved ISO 9001 certification.
While often associated with larger, more established businesses, ISO 9001 is particularly significant for organisations at a growth stage. As companies scale, maintaining consistency, quality, and customer satisfaction becomes increasingly challenging. Achieving certification demonstrates that Matter has the processes, governance, and culture in place to support sustainable growth without compromising on quality.
Our certification has been independently assessed and accredited through UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service), the UK's national accreditation body. While ISO 9001 is the quality management standard that Matter implements, UKAS accreditation provides independent assurance that the certification process has been carried out by an appropriately accredited body. This gives our certification government-backed national and international recognition, providing further confidence to our customers and partners.
What ISO 9001 Means
ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems. It provides a framework that helps organisations consistently meet customer requirements, improve operational performance, manage risk, and drive continual improvement.
Certification is awarded following an independent assessment of an organisation's processes, systems, and commitment to quality. It is not a one-time achievement but an ongoing commitment to reviewing and improving how the business operates.
Building for Growth
For many startups, success is built on agility, innovation, and the ability to move quickly. As businesses grow, however, informal processes become harder to sustain. Teams expand, customer requirements become more complex, and consistency becomes increasingly important.
Achieving ISO 9001 marks an important milestone in Matter's evolution from startup to scale-up.
The certification helps to ensure that:
Processes are clearly defined and consistently followed.
Customer feedback is captured and used to drive improvements.
Risks are identified and managed proactively.
Teams can work more efficiently as the organisation grows.
Quality remains at the centre of decision-making.
Customer focus is the priority.
Most importantly, it provides a strong operational foundation that will enable Matter to continue scaling while maintaining the standards our customers expect. This is reflected in our QMS by adhering to the 7 principles:
The 7 Quality Management Principles
Creating Confidence for Customers and Partners
As organisations review potential suppliers and partners, quality assurance is increasingly becoming a key consideration. ISO 9001 provides independent verification that Matter operates to internationally recognised quality standards and is committed to continuous improvement.
Our approach to quality also extends beyond our own operations. As part of our due diligence and supplier management processes, we consider the quality systems and standards of the organisations we work with. Many of our key suppliers are also ISO 9001 certified, helping us build a consistent approach to quality across our wider supply chain.
For our customers, the certification offers confidence that quality is not dependent on individuals or isolated processes but is embedded throughout the organisation.
A Culture of Continuous Improvement
The journey to certification has involved teams from across the business reviewing existing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing robust systems that will support future growth.
While achieving certification is an important milestone, the real value lies in what comes next. ISO 9001 establishes a framework for continual improvement, helping us measure performance, learn from experience, and adapt as the business evolves.
Commenting on the achievement, Antoine Havard, Operations and Quality Lead at Matter, said:
"Achieving ISO 9001 is a significant milestone for Matter and reflects the maturity of the systems and processes we've built as a growing business. As we continue to scale, it's essential that quality remains consistent across every area of the organisation. This certification gives us a strong foundation for growth, supports continual improvement, and demonstrates to our customers that quality is embedded in everything we do."
Looking Ahead
As Matter continues its growth journey, ISO 9001 provides a framework that will help us scale efficiently, strengthen customer confidence, and continually improve the way we operate.
Joining the community of ISO 9001-certified organisations is an important milestone, but more importantly, it's a commitment to maintaining the high standards that will support our customers, our people, and our future growth.
