In The Guardian: Tackling Microplastics at the Source

Matter Industries has been featured in The Guardian in a new article exploring the growing issue of microplastic pollution from washing machines- and the technology we’ve developed to help address it.

The piece follows our CEO and Founder Adam Root, and the journey behind Matter’s self-cleaning microfibre filtration technology, from early prototype to a solution now available across European markets.

The article highlights how Matter’s Regen technology is designed to capture up to 97% of microfibres before they enter waterways, helping reduce one of the most common forms of microplastic pollution found in oceans, rivers and even the air we breathe.

The Guardian article also explores the wider environmental challenge around synthetic textiles and the growing global conversation about how we tackle microplastic pollution at both domestic and industrial scale. As Adam says in the article, “You have to be where the pollution is”, and we believe practical, scalable solutions have an important role to play alongside long-term systemic change.

We’re incredibly grateful to Emma Bryce and the Guardian team for spotlighting this issue and the work being done across the industry to drive progress.
